Bob and Doug McKenzie in 02 The Fishin’ Musician – The Tubes [076] [SCTV – Seasons 4 & 5]
In the video 02 The Fishin’ Musician – The Tubes [076] [SCTV – Seasons 4 & 5], Bob and Doug McKenzie are a pair of made up Canadian comedians who created “Great White North”, a sketch which was featured on second city television for the show’s most liked season when it streamed by the Canadian Broadcasting Channel in 1980. Bob’s character is created by actor Rick Moranis and Doug McKenzie is created by actor Dave Thomas. Even thoughFamously brought to life originally as a sketch to both please and laugh at stupid Canadian content legislation, the pair became a pop culture smash hit in both Canada and across the border. The McKenzie siblings went on to become the focus of a famous comedy album, The Great White North, in 1981.

Their ability to parody tv shows was brilliant
He autographed them, in his car, heh heh. I'd like to have that plaque, but not on my teeth, heh heh.
SCTV had a cult following in the late 70s early 80s
great sctv episode however they got the tubes the begining of a terrible pop band. check out any 74 or 75 tubes, a completely diff band one who could rock as kick ass as any. any.
The jet was smaller than host! Don't get mad get even lol early Pesci impression by Moranis lol
The Tubes remind me of another band called Doug & the Slugs..
This was a take on "The Red Fisher Show" that aired up here in Canada. He would show clips of a fishing trip and narrate over them from his cabin called "Scuttlebutt Lodge".
The first skit was pure gold. I mean it's SCTV… it's ALL gold… but this skit is just on another level.
Andrea Martin is one of the most underrated actors in history.
Go out on Saturday night in Montreal, Get drunk on cheap beer or zombies at Foufounes on St Catherine St. Try slam dancing, then nurse you hangover the next morning watching a fishing show on PBS. Generation X rules.
Wonderful. Thank you for posting that.
14:12 the first time youtube was used in a sentence. He did pluralize it, but it still counts.
Great comedy.
Yummy, I watched this when it first aired, they did this song and "Talk to ya Later" ( The Completion Backward Principle Album). SCTV was 10 Times better than SNL. Even "Fridays" was better than SNL in the early 80's.. there's NOTHING worse than an old burned out Hollywood schumuck that thinks he's going to take his money with him when he dies… good bye Lorne… this is 1982 wishing you farewell.
I was such a weird kid. Not only did I watch this episode and every SCTV episode, I bought the Tubes album the next day. I am now 54 yrs old and tell my spouse that "Completion Backward Principle" is my Top 3 favorite albums. Tubes Woo! Sushi girl whoo!
oh baby! Black face, cross dressing, ridiculing foreigners…the only question was, "Is it funny?". If the answer is "YES< SIR" then we're doing it
Glad to find this here, instead of searching for my old VHS tapes.
Man the Tubes performance seems to be live and sounds amazing! Does anyone know for sure ?
White Punks on Dope, according to Fee Waybill. There was a lot of beer and a big bag of weed, but no script. Comedy genius was created!
