In the video 10 Favourite Christmas Carols – Bob and Doug Mackenzie, 12 beers of Christmas, Bob and Doug McKenzie are a pair of made up Canadian actors who can been seen in “Great White North”, a skit which was broadcast on second city television for the show’s third season when it aired by CBC Television in the year 1980. Bob is created by the funny Rick Moranis and Doug is created by comic Dave Thomas. Which was born originally as fluff to both follow guidelines and laugh about network Canadian content statutes, the pair grew up to be a pop culture hit in both Canada and the US. The characters soon became the focus of a an amazing comedy album, The Great White North, in 1981.
In the mid 80s, Bob and Doug Mackenzie were making waves as the stereotypical Canucks for SCTV. They even got their own movie (Strange Brew) and were a fad that roped in some big music stars, which led them to making some Christmas music.
12 Beers of Christmas by Bob and Doug Mackenzie is one of my 10 Favourite Christmas Carols. Its probably supposed to be the 12 Days of Christmas, but I like calling it the 12 Beers of Christmas.
