In the video 12 Drinks of Christmas – Official Lyrics Video, Bob and Doug McKenzie are a duo of fictional Canadian brothers who were featured in “Great White North”, a sketch which was included on SCTV for the show’s 3rd season when it was broadcast on the Canadian Broadcasting Channel in the 80’s. Bob’s part is acted by hilarious comedian Rick Moranis and Doug McKenzie is created by the comedian Dave Thomas. Although made originally as filler to both satisfy and laugh about legal Canadian content demands, the two became a pop culture phenomenon in both Canada and the US. The McKenzie siblings soon became the focus of a hit comedy album, The Great White North, in 1981.
MERRY CHRISTMAS FROM THE SHABS
A little earlier in the year we went into STFD Studio to record our song for their ‘Thank Folk it’s the Holidays’ compilation and while we were there we figured we would put together a full band version of our parody Christmas song ‘The 12 Drinks of Christmas’.
It goes without saying it’s been one helluva frustrating year. But one thing is for certain…the support and love that we felt earlier this year when we got back from our cancelled tour and entered into a global lockdown was the ONE thing that ensured we lifted our heads, weathered the storm and kept going as a band, making plans to adapt to the world as it is for now and focussing on what we can do next.
So from us to you…Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays. We hope you have an awesome festive season with your friends, family and loved ones. And if you are feeling down and lonely this time of year, please never hesitate to reach out. We’re always here like you guys have always been here for us
