In the video #5 Hypothetically, Bob and Doug McKenzie are a group of odd Canadian siblings who starred in “Great White North”, a program which was shown on SCTV – second city television for the show’s 3rd season when it was aired on CBC Television in in the early 80s. Bob’s part is played by the funny Rick Moranis and the character Doug is created by comic Dave Thomas. Which was created originally as a joke to both satisfy and laugh about legal Canadian content demands, the brothers became a pop culture smash hit in both Canada and the USA. The McKenzie brothers later became the focus of a hit comedy album, The Great White North, in 1981.

Clearly, my imagination was getting charged up between songs. It was mini-fantasies such as these that helped me fall asleep every night after the Takotsubo event that landed me in the hospital. If not a fantasy about accidentally meeting Rick Moranis, it was a letter of appreciation for the songs he wrote that cheered and reconnected me with a distant past. Sometimes I thanked him for helping me recover, and for inspiring philosophical thoughts. 🙂
Every night, I got into bed around 8 p.m. and settled in with the Kindle and a writing app and fell asleep peacefully in the middle of a sentence. It was great. I slept like a (really quiet) baby. So, thank you, imaginary version of Rick Moranis, and Thank you, to the real guy whom I have never met.
