  1. Rick officially left the film industry in 1997, six years after the 1991 loss of his wife, Ann, to breast cancer, which had metastasized to her liver. He later explained that he began to "pull out" of making movies in about 1996 or 1997. "I'm a single parent and I just found that it was too difficult to manage raising my kids and doing the traveling involved in making movies. So I took a little bit of a break. And the little bit of a break turned into a longer break, and then I found that I really didn't miss it."[8]

I actually had read an interview that he did where he stated that he actually never officially retired but instead took a break and then it became a longer break and then he realized he didn't really miss it. But he did say that he never actually retired and still gets offered parts. He was supposed to do a sequel to Spaceballs recently but Mel Brooks scrapped the idea so Rick wasn't able to come back. Hope he comes back onto the screen again soon where he belongs. Though he does have a band.
