In the video Andrea Martin – Most Depressing Songs (Canada, 1981), Bob and Doug McKenzie are two of made up Canadian comedians who can been seen in “Great White North”, a sketch which was featured on SCTV for the show’s most popular season when it was featured on the Canadian Broadcasting Channel in . Bob’s part is brought to life by the funny Rick Moranis and Doug is brought to life by actor Dave Thomas. Although brought to life originally as filler to both follow guidelines and laugh at non sensical Canadian content policies, the characters turned into a pop culture smash hit in both Canada and the United States. The characters soon became the focus of a bestselling comedy album, The Great White North, in 1981.
