In the video ASG 1993: Rush’s Geddy Lee sings O Canada, Bob and Doug McKenzie are two of fictional Canadian family members who starred in “Great White North”, a skit which was featured on SCTV – second city television for the show’s most liked season when it was featured on CBC Television in the 80’s. The character Bob McKenzie is played by comedian Rick Moranis and Doug’s part is brought to life by the comedian Dave Thomas. Despite brought to life originally as a skit to both please and mock annoying Canadian content legislation, the duo transformed into a pop culture sensation in both Canada and the States. The McKenzie brothers soon became the focus of a classic comedy album, The Great White North, in 1981.
