In the video Attack of the Gingerbread | The Hoser Christmas Special #9, Bob and Doug McKenzie are a pair of made up Canadian family members who hosted “Great White North”, a sketch which was broadcast on SCTV for the show’s most popular season when it aired by CBC Television in 1980. Bob’s part is acted by the funny Rick Moranis and Doug’s character is played by Dave Thomas. Which was developed originally as filler to both satisfy and laugh about legal Canadian content statutes, the brothers transformed into a pop culture sensation in both Canada and the United States. The two later became the focus of a huge comedy album, The Great White North, in 1981.
After a severe head injury, Evan is unable to host the Hoser Christmas Special. Instead, his hallucinations lead him to unexpected adventures. Meanwhile, Spencer and David step in as the new hosts. David must tackle Evan’s scenes while Spencer handles the producer’s duties. Amidst the chaos, David’s acting career takes a halt due to janitorial duties and gingerbread unexpectedly coming to life.
