There’s a long list of very famous Canadians in Hollywood.
Starting with Jack Warner, of Warner Brothers, was Canadian.
Louis B Mayer, from St John New Brunswick, the Sennet brothers.
Then we have Mary Pickford, America’s Sweetheart, who was Canadian.
Norma Shearer, Raymond Massey, Yvonne DeCarlo, Walter Pidgeon, Marie Dressler, Deanna Durban.
More current is James Cameron, Jim Carey, Ryan Reynolds’s, Ryan Gosling, Christopher Plummer, Donald Sutherland, William Shatner, Rachel MacAdams, Simu Liu, Michael Cera, Will Arnett, Michael J Fox, Keanu Reeves, Seth Rogan, Pamela Anderson,.
There are more, just can’t remember al of them, but there are more!!
Another thing about Canada, a lot of the big American production movies and television shows are filmed up here in Canada
i will say some of these are obvious if you pay attention mike myers references canada in everything he does and seth rogen has too also idk how someone hasn't heard of pamela anderson at all. like she was past my time and i'd see her constantly in media.
A I Cook is also in final destination 2 she is the main character
Mary Pickford was Canadian…the Canadians have been around a LOOONG time in Hollywood.
The largest Canadian city outside of Canada is Los Angeles.
The most Canadian film is Titanic, filmed in Canada, using IMAX, a Canadian technology, with a Canadian Producer and Canadian singer for the title song.
Tommy Chongs' daughter!!! Of Cheech and Chong!
First of all, I am shocked that neither Joshua Jackson or Devon Sawa were on this list. Also wish Phil Hartman had been on this list. I don't know if you have ever heard of him, but he was a very funny and talented comedian. He was on SNL back in the '90s, probably most famous for playing Bill Clinton and also starred in "News Radio" and some movies (like "Jingle All the Way"). His life was cut tragically short when his wife killed him, then herself. At first I thought they didn't include him because they were only doing living actors, but John Candy is on that list, so no.
There is a second video out produced by Aussie Tass Reacts.
A large amount of USA TV series and movies are filmed in studios in Toronto area and Vancouver.
Mary Pickfordd was canadian during silent film she was much more
What may surprise you even more is the production for these movies and TV shows was done in Canada with Canadian production crews.
I bet you did'nt know that Tommy Douglas the father of the Canadian health care was the Father in law of Donald Sutherland and grand father of Kiefer Sutherland … Fun Fact
The first true international 'Movie Star' was Mary Pickford, born and raised in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. In 1916, she signed a contract which guaranteed her an income of at least $1,040,000 (the equivalent of US$29,967,852.00 today) over two years. In return for making six films, she would receive 50% of the profits, with a guaranteed minimum salary of $10,000, (the equivalent of US$288,152.00 today) paid every Monday. In 1919, Movie Stars Mary Pickford, Charlie Chaplin, and Douglas Fairbanks, along with Director D. W. Griffith founded United Artists. Chimo
Canadians have always been in Hollywood right back to the silent film star. Off the top of my head is Mary Pickford, she was born in Toronto.
Elisha Cuthbert is best known for her role on 24 as Jack Bauer's daughter.
Also half the people from Battlestar Galactica are Canadian. This ties into the other comments about how much of the US's TV production is done in Canada.
In order to produce a show in Canada and receive all the tax credits and benefits that are coming to you, you have to employ Canadians. So when the show is produced in Vancouver, obviously there will be a lot of Canadian actors and crew involved.
The Americans don't have a complex flowchart for evaluating where somebody comes from based on accents. If they speak English and don't sound British, they are assumed American, and that's where the Canadians get lumped in. If they speak English and have an Australian, New Zealand, or South African, accent, they are all British. Unless you sound literally the exact same as Crocodile Dundee or Steve Irwin, then you're Australian. Relegated to cooking shrimp on barbies while dingos eat your children.
The Canadian accent, as it is seen internationally, is largely a fictitious construct that is an amalgamation of various small regional accents. You won't find a single Canadian that matches all of the accent stereotypes. Most Canadian actors, the big ones, don't have any obvious accent. Canada, by and large, has a very neutral accent, which makes us perfect for being American news anchors like Peter Jennings. He was a huge Canadian news anchor on US TV from 1983 to 2005.
The rocks mothers i think is Canadian, so he was granted his citizenship i think 2018ish
And at the executive level, the Warner Brothers were Canadian, as was Sam Goldwyn of MGM fame, and Mack Sennett (Keystone Cops ), so yeah, there have been lots of Canadians in Hollywood right from the start.
Finn wolfhard is Canadian I disnt know that
A lot of shows and movies are being produced/filmed in Canada instead of Hollywood, so a lot of the secondary characters are played by Canadians. If you had to make a video with every canadian in tv/hollywood, it could easily last an hour
Hey, wait a second…. Am I having deja vu or did I have a stroke or something?
You are right, so many more Canadian actors working in Hollywood. You could do a drinking game, picking out just Canuck actors in shows/movies lol
for something completely different . The Boss
