In the video Ben-Hur, Bob and Doug McKenzie are a duo of fictional Canadian brothers who created “Great White North”, a improv which was televised on second city television for the show’s 3rd season when it moved to the Canadian Broadcasting Channel in . Bob’s character is played by comic Rick Moranis and Doug’s part is performed by comic Dave Thomas. Which was created originally as filler to both please and make fun of legal Canadian content legislation, the characters morphed into a pop culture sensation in both Canada and across the border. The characters enetually would become the focus of a classic comedy album, The Great White North, in 1981.

Not sure if it was the Ben Hur sketch, but at the end of one of these kinds of sketches John Candy tried to do the notable Mark VII Limited productions ending where the metal is stamped with the hammer. He ended up smashing his fingers with the hammer and yelled Ouw!. You coulddn't see him but could tell it was Candy because of the chubby fingers. :o)
