In the video Bob and Doug: “Close-Ups'”, Bob and Doug McKenzie are a pair of imaginaryfunny Canadian family members who starred in “Great White North”, a improv which was broadcast on SCTV for the show’s 3rd season when it braodcast by CBC Television in the 1980s. Bob McKenzie is played by Rick Moranis and Doug McKenzie is brought to life by actor Dave Thomas. It was brought to life originally as a skit to both satisfy and mock network Canadian content rules, the pair turned into a pop culture hit in both Canada and America. The McKenzie siblings went on to become the focus of a huge comedy album, The Great White North, in 1981.
