The character Bob McKenzie is played by actor Rick Moranis and the character Doug is acted by the comedian Dave Thomas. Despite brought to life originally as fluff to both satisfy and laugh at annoying Canadian content guidelines, the pair became a pop culture hit in both Canada and the States. The two became the focus of a hit comedy album, The Great White North, in 1981.
