In the video Bob & Doug MacKenzie Great White North Christmas SCTV segment., Bob and Doug McKenzie are a couple of odd Canadian brothers who created “Great White North”, a segment which was aired on second city television for the show’s most watched season when it braodcast by CBC Television in in the early 80s. Bob McKenzie is performed by comic Rick Moranis and Doug McKenzie’s part is played by Dave Thomas. Despite made originally as filler to both fulfill and mock legal Canadian content rules, the two turned into a pop culture phenomenon in both Canada and the US. The pair later became the focus of a an amazing comedy album, The Great White North, in 1981.
Bob (Rick Moranis) and Doug’s (Dave Thomas) two minutes segments ran on SCTV in 1980 and 1981. We used to listen to their comedy on an actual record back in the day. I think those might be Rothman’s smokes and they were terrible!

nog okay cause we hate eggnog like at
our family parties everybody drinks
eggnog Christmas right so what you do is
you go to Max 7-Eleven you get eggnog
and you empty it out like right in the
tree eh and then you pour it out bro
okay you got beer right in there and
then you get like a happy copy you can’t
see through pour it in that walk around
the party you don’t have to drink eggnog
drink beer nog instead okay okay another
topic is this beauty like uh two years
ago I was working in Brewers retail eh
our owner our boss eh he gave us like uh
uh Frozen butter balls for Christmas eh
so like Jose here puts it in the trunk
of the car and forgot about it right so
like next summer dad was driving the car
and goes who died eh so like goes in the
truck
one for you too take off you never did I
