Bob’s character is brought to life by Rick Moranis and Doug is performed by the comedian Dave Thomas. The sketch was brought to life originally as a skit to both follow guidelines and mock annoying Canadian content guidelines, the two became a pop culture hit in both Canada and America. The characters went on to become the focus of a famous comedy album, The Great White North, in 1981.
