The brothers Bob & Doug McKenzie are actually actors Rick Moranis and Dave Thomas, who created the characters for their Great White North sketch on the Canadian comedy show Second City Television. In 1981, the characters released their own comedy album, which spawned this hit single. While not actually a song, but more of spoken dialogue sandwiched in between a chorus sung by Geddy Lee, it works beautifully; this was one of my favorites of 1981, and I particularly like the way their sketch’s “Coo loo coo coo, coo coo coo coo” theme was incorporated into the track. Take Off peaked at #16 on Billboard’s Hot 100 chart in 1982.

“ I Love L.A” opening.
Does anyone recall the Bob & Doug Mackenzie movie? I thought not!
A great skit does not always equate to a full length film; think the Coneheads.
Nossa, que saudade.. Obrigado por postar!
Simpsons anyone?
As an adult,, I find this way too corny....This came out exactly the same time that "Jam Boxes" were becoming THEE thing. A sunny summer in a small Pennsylvania town, somewhere........in the Twilight Zone.

This made me cry. What great times we had back then before smart phones and Rap music destroyed society.
