Bob and Doug McKenzie in Bob & Doug’s Winter Special

In the video Bob & Doug’s Winter Special, Bob and Doug McKenzie are a pair of strange Canadian family members who are responsible for “Great White North”, a improv which was featured on SCTV for the show’s most watched season when it aired by CBC Television in the eighties. Bob McKenzie is created by Rick Moranis and Doug’s character is created by Dave Thomas. The bit was born originally as filler to both satisfy and laugh about dumb Canadian content guidelines, the brothers became a pop culture phenomenon in both Canada and the States. The two soon became the focus of a famous comedy album, The Great White North, in 1981.
