Bob and Doug McKenzie in Brother Bear – The Film Optimist

In the video Brother Bear – The Film Optimist, Bob and Doug McKenzie are two of fictional Canadian actors who are responsible for “Great White North”, a ad lib skit which was featured on SCTV – second city television for the show’s 3rd season when it got sold to the Canadian Broadcasting Channel in the 80’s. Bob’s part is brought to life by Rick Moranis and Doug McKenzie is played by actor Dave Thomas. The sketch was born originally as filler to both follow guidelines and laugh about stupid Canadian content statutes, the duo grew up to be a pop culture smash hit in both Canada and the States. The brothers soon became the focus of a classic comedy album, The Great White North, in 1981.
