In the video Buddy Shotz Podcast 9 – Strange Brew, Bob and Doug McKenzie are a pair of imaginaryfunny Canadian actors who hosted “Great White North”, a improv which was featured on SCTV – second city television for the show’s third season when it moved to CBC Television in in the early 80s. Bob’s part is created by actor Rick Moranis and the character Doug is acted by the comedian Dave Thomas. Regardless the fact it was born originally as a skit to both follow guidelines and mock dumb Canadian content guidelines, the brothers turned into a pop culture success in both Canada and the United States. The McKenzie brothers went on to become the focus of a an amazing comedy album, The Great White North, in 1981.
Strange Brew (also known as The Adventures of Bob & Doug McKenzie: Strange Brew) is a 1983 Canadian comedy film starring the popular SCTV characters Bob and Doug McKenzie, portrayed by Dave Thomas and Rick Moranis, who also served as co-directors. Co-stars include Max von Sydow, Paul Dooley, Lynne Griffin and Angus MacInnes.
