This week on Bullseye, Jesse brings you one of his favorite interviews, a conversation with Rick Moranis. You know him from Strange Brew, Ghostbusters, Spaceballs, Honey I Shrunk the Kids. He is the bespectacled man in argyle socks, who plays nerdy characters with goofy dad jokes. In the late 80’s and early 90’s, it seemed like he was the star of every family friendly comedy to hit the big screen. But, after his wife passed away in 1991, he quit the movie business, to raise his children. The last time he has been seen on screen was 20 years ago, in Honey We Shrunk Ourselves.

Jesse and Rick talk about his first job selling hockey programs in the nosebleed section, SCTV and the ironic outcome of his famous nose-thumbing at Canadian content laws, and his decision to be a stay-at-home father.

  1. I must say… I grew up on Rick Moranis movies, from Spaceballs to Ghostbusters to Flintstones. I wasn't a huge fan but I always thought, "this dude is everywhere," at the time that he was very active in films. I later found myself searching him up a lot to find out where he currently was, and was surprised that he really hadn't been in anything else. Now I know why and I give him my sympathies for losing his wife and having to raise his children out of the limelight. Dude had me in stitches with his acting.

  2. Excellent Interview, I hope that Rick returns to acting after taking care of his children. I feel sad for him that he lost the love of his wife in 1990. We love you, Rick Moranis!
