In the video Canada’s comedy giants gather for Second City reunion, Bob and Doug McKenzie are two of fictional Canadian comedians who starred in “Great White North”, a program which was broadcast on SCTV – second city television for the show’s 3rd season when it got sent to CBC Television in the eighties. The character Bob McKenzie is performed by actor Rick Moranis and the character Doug is created by comic Dave Thomas. The bit was created originally as a skit to both fulfill and laugh at dumb Canadian content guidelines, the characters became a pop culture success in both Canada and the United States. The characters soon became the focus of a huge comedy album, The Great White North, in 1981.
