Bob McKenzie is created by actor Rick Moranis and Doug McKenzie is performed by actor Dave Thomas. Regardless the fact it was created originally as an idea to both follow guidelines and laugh about dumb Canadian content rules, the two morphed into a pop culture smash hit in both Canada and across the border. The pair later became the focus of a hit comedy album, The Great White North, in 1981.
