• You are forgetting Camp X that existed in Whitby, Ontario during WW11. The greatest spy camp back then. Its where every spy worldwide visited. Its where the real James Bond came from. He wasnt British. He was Canadian.

• I was a Canadian soldier, 4th generation. It only takes one good soldier to take out an entire city if its planned right. My dad served WW11 at 15.5 years old and he wasnt the only minor. Thousands from Canada did, mainly farm boys. He later came home with more service than the parents back at his high school. He graduated, went to carpentry trade school, signed up for Korea legally this time, came back , got married, had 6 kids then went to Vietnam a short while before he finally retired. He worked joint with USA for a bit in Vietnam. Dont believe what politicians tell you. They only say Canada wasnt involved so they dont have to pay for wars mainly to veterans and families. We had soldiers in Iraq too.
  He was a busy man but died when i was 11. He had a plate in his head, and shrapnel in his bloodstream that my mom would pull out at night. Serious PTSD too and mom kicked him out of bed for some time until he settled down cos he slept with one eye open and a knife under his pillow. My one brother made a mistake one time crawling behind the couch when dad was sleeping. He got the piss scared out of him when dad jumped up with the knife. That scared mom, yes.

  Uncle Bernard was in WW11, both my grandpas were in WW1 and great grandpa was in Second Boer war.

• I'm a UK descendant. Ginger like you seem to be. Scotland is on my bucket list. And we Canadians are not to be underestimated. Our geography is essential to understand our toughness. We gave the world hockey and la crosse, give us credit.

• My dad, a French Canadian. Fought in the Italian campaign against Hitlers crack troops. He said every one of them was blond and over 6’ tall. I watched a documentary on PBS about this campaign where they interviewed a German veteran who said that they feared the Canadian troops the most. They called them the red patches for the red patch Canadian soldiers wore on their shoulders. In one battle where the allies were trying to move up a valley where the Germans held the high ground ( I believe some called it the valley of death) the German troops poured everything they had at them. Every one dug in…..except the Canadians who kept moving forward. This veteran said that when they stopped firing and the smoke cleared the Canadians were closer. They’d hit them again and when the smoke cleared, the Canadians were closer. My dad fought in that war, a war that doesn’t get the attention that D Day does but was just as important …as Hitler had to divide his military into two fronts.
