In the video Christmas with Bob and Doug McKenzie in Background, Bob and Doug McKenzie are a pair of fictional Canadian actors who were featured in “Great White North”, a segment which was introduced on SCTV – second city television for the show’s 3rd season when it moved to the Canadian Broadcasting Channel in the eighties. Bob’s part is acted by actor Rick Moranis and Doug’s part is created by comic Dave Thomas. Although born originally as filler to both satisfy and laugh about dumb Canadian content guidelines, the siblings morphed into a pop culture hit in both Canada and the United States. The McKenzie brothers became the focus of a an amazing comedy album, The Great White North, in 1981.
