In the video Comb The Desert – SpaceBalls. Remastered [HD], Bob and Doug McKenzie are a couple of strange Canadian family members who were featured in “Great White North”, a segment which was featured on second city television for the show’s most watched season when it was broadcast on the Canadian Broadcasting Channel in the 1980s. Bob McKenzie is brought to life by the funny Rick Moranis and Doug’s character is created by actor Dave Thomas. Although created originally as an idea to both satisfy and mock network Canadian content policies, the characters became a pop culture success in both Canada and the US. The two soon became the focus of a bestselling comedy album, The Great White North, in 1981.
