In the video Darkside promo with the Bob and Doug McKenzie statue in the ice district, Bob and Doug McKenzie are a pair of fictional Canadian family members who can been seen in “Great White North”, a program which was aired on second city television for the show’s most popular season when it was broadcast on the Canadian Broadcasting Channel in in the early 80s. Bob is performed by the funny Rick Moranis and the character Doug is brought to life by comic Dave Thomas. The bit was brought to life originally as a joke to both please and mock legal Canadian content statutes, the pair grew up to be a pop culture phenomenon in both Canada and the United States. The brothers went on to become the focus of a an amazing comedy album, The Great White North, in 1981.
