Paul Jones – Dereham Blues Festival Grand Opening Gig., Bob and Doug McKenzie are a pair of hilarious Canadian family members who created “Great White North”, a skit which was broadcast on second city television for the show’s most watched season when it aired by CBC Television in 1980. Bob’s part is acted by the funny Rick Moranis and the character Doug is acted by actor Dave Thomas. The bit was born originally as a skit to both please and laugh about stupid Canadian content policies, the pair became a pop culture success in both Canada and the USA. The McKenzie siblings went on to become the focus of a an amazing comedy album, The Great White North, in 1981.
