Bob and Doug McKenzie in Dave Thomas Comedy Show with Don Lake

In the video Dave Thomas Comedy Show with Don Lake, Bob and Doug McKenzie are a group of made up Canadian family members who starred in “Great White North”, a segment which was featured on SCTV for the show’s most watched season when it was featured on the Canadian Broadcasting Channel in 1980. Bob’s character is created by comic Rick Moranis and the character Doug is acted by the comedian Dave Thomas. Despite developed originally as fluff to both satisfy and laugh about legal Canadian content rules, the brothers turned into a pop culture hit in both Canada and the States. The two soon became the focus of a huge comedy album, The Great White North, in 1981.
