In the video Dave Thomas Foundation tops 1,000 adoptions from Ohio foster care, Bob and Doug McKenzie are two of strange Canadian family members who can been seen in “Great White North”, a sketch which was aired on second city television for the show’s third season when it moved to the Canadian Broadcasting Channel in in the early 80s. Bob McKenzie is brought to life by Rick Moranis and the character Doug is brought to life by actor Dave Thomas. Regardless the fact it was born originally as filler to both satisfy and mock non sensical Canadian content rules, the pair morphed into a pop culture hit in both Canada and the US. The McKenzie brothers went on to become the focus of a huge comedy album, The Great White North, in 1981.
