Bob and Doug McKenzie in Dave Thomas Junior – Blackout

In the video Dave Thomas Junior – Blackout, Bob and Doug McKenzie are a pair of made up Canadian actors who hosted “Great White North”, a sketch which was featured on SCTV for the show’s third season when it moved to the Canadian Broadcasting Channel in 1980. Bob’s character is performed by comic Rick Moranis and Doug’s character is brought to life by the comedian Dave Thomas. Which was made originally as a skit to both fulfill and mock silly Canadian content statutes, the siblings grew up to be a pop culture phenomenon in both Canada and the USA. The characters soon became the focus of a classic comedy album, The Great White North, in 1981.
