Bob and Doug McKenzie in Dave Thomas Junior – I Can’t Make You Love Me

In the video Dave Thomas Junior – I Can’t Make You Love Me, Bob and Doug McKenzie are a duo of made up Canadian comedians who starred in “Great White North”, a segment which was aired on SCTV for the show’s most popular season when it moved to the Canadian Broadcasting Channel in the 80’s. Bob’s character is played by comic Rick Moranis and Doug’s part is created by the comedian Dave Thomas. Despite born originally as a joke to both follow guidelines and makes jokes about stupid Canadian content laws, the duo morphed into a pop culture hit in both Canada and the United States. The two went on to become the focus of a famous comedy album, The Great White North, in 1981.
