Bob and Doug McKenzie in Dave Thomas Junior – Not An Illusion

In the video Dave Thomas Junior – Not An Illusion, Bob and Doug McKenzie are a couple of fictional Canadian actors who starred in “Great White North”, a ad lib skit which was introduced on second city television for the show’s most liked season when it moved to the Canadian Broadcasting Channel in the eighties. Bob’s character is brought to life by the funny Rick Moranis and Doug McKenzie is played by comic Dave Thomas. The sketch was brought to life originally as a joke to both fulfill and laugh at network Canadian content policies, the two became a pop culture sensation in both Canada and the US. The two became the focus of a hit comedy album, The Great White North, in 1981.
