Bob’s part is played by Rick Moranis and Doug McKenzie is brought to life by comic Dave Thomas. Despite made originally as filler to both fulfill and laugh about dumb Canadian content laws, the characters morphed into a pop culture phenomenon in both Canada and America. The pair went on to become the focus of a huge comedy album, The Great White North, in 1981.
