Singer-songwriter Dave Thomas Junior has a penchant for interpreting covers in an emotional way, finding new meanings in popular compositions. He chose to cover Kelly Clarkson’s classic “Since U Been Gone” to shed light on what he believes is the true meaning of the song, explaining that he “never believed for a second that it’s about someone who is really moving on and getting what they want these days. Protesting too much. So I wanted to make a version where the lie is laid bare.” Dave’s acoustic ballad rendition of the song is a slower burn and doubles on vocals, creating a rich harmony over the beautiful acoustic piano arrangement.
