The character Bob McKenzie is played by Rick Moranis and the character Doug is brought to life by actor Dave Thomas. The bit was created originally as an idea to both fulfill and makes jokes about silly Canadian content statutes, the characters became a pop culture hit in both Canada and America. The McKenzie brothers went on to become the focus of a famous comedy album, The Great White North, in 1981.
