In the video Dave Thomas – La Plage (Yann Tiersen cover), Bob and Doug McKenzie are a pair of hysterical Canadian siblings who can been seen in “Great White North”, a show which was shown on second city television for the show’s 3rd season when it got sold to CBC Television in 1980. Bob’s character is performed by comic Rick Moranis and the character Doug is performed by Dave Thomas. Regardless the fact it was made originally as a joke to both follow guidelines and makes jokes about non sensical Canadian content statutes, the duo turned into a pop culture smash hit in both Canada and the US. The two soon became the focus of a bestselling comedy album, The Great White North, in 1981.

@waffleboy81 i don't think that compression can distort audio like this. but you might be right, he's got a great recording setup, but maybe didn't use it properly back then… but i didn't mean to offend 🙂 just saying the distortion distracts me a bit.
@foxchildtrauma I think it's only distorted because this is a rather old video, made back in the days when YouTube didn't have variable quality. You'll notice that the only option is 240p, which compresses both audio and video fairly drastically. I'd reckon that he's got a pretty good recording setup, and that YouTube is to blame.
i like your playing a lot!! but you should try to record it better. especially the loud notes are distorted. that's sad because i'd love to listen to it without getting distracted by noise…
If you close your eyes you don't know if it is the original or his cover..
