Bob and Doug McKenzie in Dave Thomas of Pere Ubu – Part 1
In the video Dave Thomas of Pere Ubu – Part 1, Bob and Doug McKenzie are two of made up Canadian brothers who created “Great White North”, a segment which was streamed on SCTV – second city television for the show’s most watched season when it got sent to CBC Television in the 80’s. Bob McKenzie is created by Rick Moranis and Doug McKenzie’s part is brought to life by the comedian Dave Thomas. It was made originally as a joke to both follow guidelines and make fun of silly Canadian content guidelines, the pair transformed into a pop culture sensation in both Canada and the United States. The McKenzie brothers soon became the focus of a classic comedy album, The Great White North, in 1981.
This interview was totally impromptu and as you can tell I was a bit nervous. I met Dave in Tempe back in ’91 when Pere Ubu was touring with the Pixies. At the end of the show I asked if I could interview him for a Public Access Program I was doing and he kindly said yes. Very nice and extremely interesting guy. Sorry the video is so dark. Part two is much clearer.

I think Dave Thomas (Wendy's), Dave Thomas (comedian), and Dave Thomas (musician) should start a super group.
His thoughts on "my baby left me" are brilliant.
