In the video Dave Thomas The Man Behind Wendy’s, Bob and Doug McKenzie are a duo of odd Canadian brothers who starred in “Great White North”, a sketch which was introduced on SCTV for the show’s third season when it got sold to the Canadian Broadcasting Channel in the 1980s. Bob’s character is played by comedian Rick Moranis and Doug’s character is brought to life by actor Dave Thomas. Which was born originally as fluff to both satisfy and mock annoying Canadian content policies, the duo grew up to be a pop culture smash hit in both Canada and across the border. The McKenzie brothers enetually would become the focus of a hit comedy album, The Great White North, in 1981.
Weird History Food is going through the drive-thru for some Wendy’s. Dave Thomas is best known for founding Wendy’s hamburger restaurant chain in Columbus, Ohio. He became Wendy’s TV spokesman in 1989. Dave opened his own restaurant on November 15, 1969: Wendy’s, named after Thomas’ 8-year-old daughter. Wendy’s quickly caught on, and within less than a decade, had grown into a 1,000-store franchise.

Go to a Wendy's now, it's $7 for half the size of what is used to be. Do yourself a favor and don't eat fast food anymore. They're making way too much money, and serving way less than you would normally get… Which in turn can be good for you, but bad for your wallet.
Back after high school Wendy's was the best tasting and best value. I would got to Wendy's with 5.25 and get 2 Jr bacon cheese burgers a Frie a 5 piece nugget and a drink and that's was when the Jr bacon came with 2 slices of tomato and 2 pieces of bacon. Man oh man

I met him as a 12 year old boy at a Wendy's stockholders meeting. He barely aknowledged my presence before walking off.
I just recently tried their breakfast burger and it was AWESOME!
As a life long Wendy's consumer, I'd have to say that the quality has gone down in the last decade or so. The fries are absolute junk now. The iced tea is garbage. Then they started adding "flavors" of frosty's. There's only one flavor of Frosty. And yes, I have dipped my fries in it. Back when the fries were good still. I used to eat at Wendy's regularly. Maybe as much as once a week. Now, maybe once every 6 months.

I've been a huge fan of Wendy's ever since I was a kid. Back then, San Jose only had two or three stores, and my parents had to drive 20 minutes to the closest one on Monterey Highway. This one later became infamous for the discovery of a human thumb found in the chili. It was found to be planted by the customer but what a headline that made! "Where's the thumb?!"

my fav wedy's item is 1 they don't make no more. Wemdy's Breakfast Burrito was so declious, so much egg and tiny pieces of bacon. came with a sauce that they changed twice. would love if that breakfast burrito came back, it was so big and filling.

The BEST burger option from Wendy's was their "Big Dave's Deluxe" with the sauteed onions.

It's too bad that [now] Wendy's buildings look like a modern style Bank. And the food sucks. SMALL reduced sized burgers, thin patties, watered down Chili , and on and on. I haven't been there in YEARS and won't ever go back.!!

Growing up in a world where most fast food chains were cutthroat shady organizations headed by vile CEOs that are out to milk every last dollar out of everyone, Dave Thomas was a breath of fresh air. He truly cared about the brand, and he wanted the quality of his burgers to mean something. McDonald's, Burger King, and many of the others didn't give a damn about quality and only cared about how much money was coming in.
The Wendy's where I live is terrible! I still eat their chili and baked potatoes. But their burgers have really gone down!
The square patty was created because you could fit more on the grill. Plain and simple.
I remember when Wendy's got added to my family's couple of times a month fast food Friday dinners and it was great! But it took going to the place with my older brother to get to try a Frosty because my dad didn't get us extra frills! Haha!
Unless Wendy’s starts going back to their old ways, making food, the way they used to. The company will continue to go downhill, which is shameful, because Dave worked his whole life to make it good.

Why do so many fast food places originate in the Midwest?
Wendy’s used to be the best. Low prices (dollar menu), fresh food, low wait times. Now any Wendy’s drive thru typically you wait 5-10 minutes per car, the food is low quality and the prices are outrageous. Easily the biggest fast food restaurant to fall from grace in my opinion.
Because of Dave, thousands of people's lives were touched, and he brought an idea to life and to the world that benefits countless folks, each to a different degree.
It takes one man to change the world. Dave is one of those special men.
I used to work around the corner from the Wendy's HQ in Dublin, OH back in 1998-1999. There was a Wendy's on the corner of Riverside and Dublin-Granville a block away from the HQ, I don't think it's there anymore. It had the VERY best fast food I've ever had. Holy mackerel was it good.
The only complaint I had is that there was this one guy who worked there, it seemed he'd take it personally if I asked for extra ketchup, giving me a dirty look. There were a bunch of other locations around Columbus, and it seemed like whenever I went to one while driving around for work, that same guy was there and gave me a dirty look when I asked for extra ketchup.
Wendy's is still my favorite fast food place.
