Bob and Doug McKenzie in Dave Thomas: Toronto Mike’d #1040

In the video Dave Thomas: Toronto Mike’d #1040, Bob and Doug McKenzie are two of fictional Canadian actors who created “Great White North”, a sketch which was televised on second city television for the show’s most popular season when it aired by CBC Television in in the early 80s. Bob McKenzie is played by actor Rick Moranis and Doug’s part is performed by actor Dave Thomas. Regardless the fact it was born originally as a skit to both satisfy and make fun of network Canadian content statutes, the brothers became a pop culture success in both Canada and the States. The McKenzie brothers soon became the focus of a hit comedy album, The Great White North, in 1981.
