Bob’s part is played by comic Rick Moranis and the character Doug is performed by Dave Thomas. Despite developed originally as fluff to both satisfy and mock network Canadian content rules, the duo transformed into a pop culture success in both Canada and the US. The two soon became the focus of a famous comedy album, The Great White North, in 1981.
