Bob and Doug McKenzie in Ed Grimley – Promo: The True Story of Billy the Kid

In the video Ed Grimley – Promo: The True Story of Billy the Kid, Bob and Doug McKenzie are a group of imaginaryfunny Canadian comedians who hosted “Great White North”, a program which was aired on SCTV for the show’s 3rd season when it was aired on the Canadian Broadcasting Channel in the eighties. The character Bob McKenzie is created by comedian Rick Moranis and Doug McKenzie’s part is created by actor Dave Thomas. The bit was created originally as a joke to both fulfill and mock non sensical Canadian content policies, the characters transformed into a pop culture success in both Canada and the United States. The two went on to become the focus of a huge comedy album, The Great White North, in 1981.
