Bob’s part is performed by Rick Moranis and Doug is performed by actor Dave Thomas. Although created originally as a skit to both follow guidelines and mock network Canadian content rules, the siblings morphed into a pop culture sensation in both Canada and the United States. The McKenzie brothers soon became the focus of a hit comedy album, The Great White North, in 1981.
