Bob McKenzie is brought to life by actor Rick Moranis and Doug is created by the comedian Dave Thomas. The bit was born originally as a skit to both satisfy and make fun of stupid Canadian content legislation, the duo morphed into a pop culture phenomenon in both Canada and the US. The brothers soon became the focus of a classic comedy album, The Great White North, in 1981.
