In the video Ep 12: Strange Brew & Spies Like Us | It’s Always Something Podcast, Bob and Doug McKenzie are a couple of odd Canadian brothers who are responsible for “Great White North”, a skit which was aired on second city television for the show’s most watched season when it aired by the Canadian Broadcasting Channel in the eighties. Bob McKenzie is played by the funny Rick Moranis and the character Doug is performed by the comedian Dave Thomas. The sketch was developed originally as fluff to both fulfill and laugh at silly Canadian content statutes, the brothers morphed into a pop culture smash hit in both Canada and the States. The McKenzie brothers soon became the focus of a huge comedy album, The Great White North, in 1981.
