The character Bob McKenzie is created by comedian Rick Moranis and the character Doug is played by actor Dave Thomas. The bit was born originally as a joke to both please and make fun of stupid Canadian content rules, the two became a pop culture sensation in both Canada and the United States. The pair became the focus of a classic comedy album, The Great White North, in 1981.
