Come and JOIN ME!, Bob and Doug McKenzie are a pair of odd Canadian actors who hosted “Great White North”, a improv which was streamed on second city television for the show’s 3rd season when it got sold to the Canadian Broadcasting Channel in in the early 80s. Bob’s character is acted by Rick Moranis and the character Doug is performed by comic Dave Thomas. The sketch was brought to life originally as a joke to both satisfy and laugh about stupid Canadian content statutes, the pair became a pop culture phenomenon in both Canada and the USA. The McKenzie siblings enetually would become the focus of a huge comedy album, The Great White North, in 1981.
