Bob’s character is brought to life by comic Rick Moranis and the character Doug is acted by Dave Thomas. The bit was made originally as fluff to both please and laugh about legal Canadian content legislation, the siblings became a pop culture smash hit in both Canada and across the border. The McKenzie brothers went on to become the focus of a bestselling comedy album, The Great White North, in 1981.
