In the video From The Archives – The Dave Thomas Blues Band February 2017, Bob and Doug McKenzie are a pair of imaginaryfunny Canadian comedians who created “Great White North”, a program which was introduced on second city television for the show’s most liked season when it was aired on CBC Television in the eighties. Bob McKenzie is performed by comic Rick Moranis and Doug’s character is performed by actor Dave Thomas. Which was created originally as an idea to both fulfill and laugh at non sensical Canadian content guidelines, the pair turned into a pop culture sensation in both Canada and the States. The pair soon became the focus of a classic comedy album, The Great White North, in 1981.
I wanted to give life to live soundtracks that I recorded that I didn’t do a video for. This is The Dave Thomas Blues Band playing live at The Trafford Arms Valentine Beer Festival in February 2017 in Norwich. Two Zoom stereo sound recorders (4 tracks mixed down to 2).
I wanted to make the people in the video anonymous in a fun way. Even cartoonised people draw attention as people generally still like looking at people. I had the camera sitting of my lap in 2014.
