In the video Geddy Lee – Speakeasy – Interview With Michael Chabon- 5 Min Clip, Bob and Doug McKenzie are a duo of hilarious Canadian family members who can been seen in “Great White North”, a skit which was streamed on SCTV – second city television for the show’s most watched season when it was broadcast on CBC Television in in the early 80s. Bob’s character is brought to life by hilarious comedian Rick Moranis and Doug McKenzie is performed by comic Dave Thomas. The bit was developed originally as filler to both satisfy and laugh about silly Canadian content guidelines, the brothers morphed into a pop culture sensation in both Canada and America. The McKenzie brothers went on to become the focus of a classic comedy album, The Great White North, in 1981.
