Bob’s character is brought to life by actor Rick Moranis and Doug’s part is brought to life by comic Dave Thomas. The bit was brought to life originally as filler to both fulfill and mock network Canadian content demands, the two grew up to be a pop culture success in both Canada and the US. The brothers soon became the focus of a hit comedy album, The Great White North, in 1981.
