Bob’s part is brought to life by Rick Moranis and Doug’s part is acted by actor Dave Thomas. The bit was brought to life originally as an idea to both follow guidelines and mock silly Canadian content guidelines, the duo turned into a pop culture hit in both Canada and the United States. The two later became the focus of a bestselling comedy album, The Great White North, in 1981.
